NCHC Partners In The Parks
Partners in the Park Announcement
We are happy to announce that the Honors Program will again be sponsoring students for the 2008 season of NCHC's new initiative - Partners in the Parks. Partners in the Parks is an experiential learning program sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council in cooperation with the U.S. National Park Service. The Partners in the Parks experience includes seminars led by university faculty and park personnel, which will include historical, scientific, cultural, and other important areas unique to the given park. Students will also have the chance to take advantage of exciting recreational opportunities in the parks to broaden their understanding of the overall value of national parks to our country and its citizens.
Last spring 5 students were able to experience the wildlife and geologic formations of Bryce Canyon in Utah. This year, the Honors Program will fund the registration for this program for six Honors students.
Students are encouraged to apply to the following sites:
Fire Island to Ellis Island, New York (May 18-24)
Mammoth Cave, Kentucky (May18-24)
Zion, Utah (May 12-17)
The deadline for applying is February 15, 2008. The Honors Program will fund students' registration costs, students will only need to provide finding for travel costs.
