Honors Program Scholarships
Each year, over $200,000 is given to Honors students in the form of scholarships from the the George Alden Trust and the Amelia Peabody Scholarship Fund.We also fund undergraduate research in the form of $10,000, $5,000 and $1,000 stipends provided by the Gladys Brooks Award, and Junior/Senior Honors Grants.

2008-2009 Application
The Honors Program invites students who have a junior/senior project of eight credits approved by the summer 1 2008 semester to apply for the Matthews Undergraduate Award, the Gladys Brooks Honors Scholarship Award, and the Junior/Senior Honors Grants.
To be eligible for these awards, you must be a junior or senior as of summer 2008 and be in good standing in the Honors Program. Approval procedures vary by college. Completed applications will be considered for all three awards. All award recipients are required to give a poster presentation at the annual Honors Evening in March/April 2009.
MATTHEWS UNDERGRADUATE AWARD
The Matthews Undergraduate Award is a paid fellowship that provides $10,000 that can be used in several ways to support a Junior/Senior Honors Project:
*Research substitute for full time co-op employment
*Research support during one academic semester of the Junior/Senior Honors Project
The Matthews research should occupy the majority of your time in the semester in which you are receiving funding. Two positions will be available for the 2008-2009 academic year.
A committee of Distinguished Matthews University Professors will select the award winners based upon the quality of the personal statement and the project proposal as well as the support demonstrated in the letters of recommendation. Award recipients are required to give a presentation of their work to the Matthews Distinguished University Professors prior to graduation in May of 2009.
GLADYS BROOKS HONORS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Gladys Brooks Honors Scholarship award provides a paid fellowship of $5,000 that can be used in several ways to support a Junior/Senior Honors Project:
* Research substitute for full time co-op employment
* Research support during one academic semester of the Junior/Senior Honors Project
The Brooks research should occupy the majority of your time in the semester in which you are receiving funding. One position will be available for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Honors Director and a Faculty Committee will select the winner.
JUNIOR/SENIOR HONORS GRANTS
All students who have an approved junior/senior project are eligible to apply for the Junior/Senior Honors Grants.
The awards are given to proposals in the form of small grants ranging from $250-$1,000 to provide assistance in completing junior/senior honors projects. Monies can be used to pay for expenses such as lab supplies, travel to conferences, books and software.
