Getting Started

As an undergraduate, there are many pulls on your time and energy including your class work and your co-op experiences. However, you are well-served to start to strategically think of your career as an undergraduate with the same seriousness with which you think of your future career after graduation.

A successful undergraduate experience is made up of many parts, and submitting fellowship and scholarship applications is just one way to expand your opportunities.

Perhaps you could start as a first year student or sophomore by meeting with the undergraduate advisor in your major and discussing your interests. At the College and Department level, there are many opportunities to become active in a variety of ways including undergraduate research, service learning, and urban volunteer opportunities. You may also contact us at the Honors Program for suggestions as you begin. Remember that it is never to early to be thinking about possibilities.
